May in Review // What’s Making Me Happy

May is almost over! It’s been another weird month in quarantine, but there are still some things this month that made me happy!

What I’m Reading

Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas

I’m re-reading the series, and enjoying it every bit as much as I did the first time around!

What I’m Watching

Silicon Valley

I wasn’t sure if it would be my type of humor, but after only a few episodes, I was in love. You quickly come to care about the characters, and it’s just so dang funny.

What I’m Listening To

Music  ~ Dedicated Side B – Carly Rae Jepsen

It’s the perfect album for this summer: Some songs are upbeat and perfect for driving with the windows rolled down, others are moody and melancholy – sorta like quarantine.

Podcasts – Track Changes

This is a new mini-series within the First Draft podcast stream, and it’s all about the publishing industry. I’ve loved First Draft for a while, and Track Changes is the perfect next step for writers.

Other Things Making Me Happy

This Citizen Science project called Penguin Watch where you can help researchers monitor the number of penguins in the wild! It’s like a video game, but you’re saving PENGUINS!

Doing an outfit surprise with my sister! This was all her idea, but I loved it so I’m mentioning it here. We bought each other an outfit online and then video chatted as we opened the packages and tried on the outfits. It was fun to both choose an outfit for her, and find out what she got me!

This Bible study series by Dr. R.C. Sproul. A few friends and I are going through the videos together, and even though it’s from decades ago, it’s still so good!

The email newsletter A Woman To Know by Julia Carpenter. Want to make your inbox more interesting and also learn about the women that history has often ignored? This short daily email is the perfect solution.

Making whipped coffeealso known as dalgona coffee. There’s nothing better to do during quarantine, so I might as well use my giant KitchenAid mixer to create this yummy drink! It’s the perfect thing to sip while reading outside.

This article of 68 pieces of advicewritten by a man on his 68th birthday. I love articles like this, and this had some great tidbits!

YouTube videos by Simone Giertz. She’s been popular for years now, but I just discoverd her videos about invention and tinkering, and they’re so fun!

  1. I loved reading this post! In May, I started reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the new Hunger Games prequel. I haven’t finished it yet, but I love it so far!
